WHAT COMPANIES ACHIEVED IN THE MASSIV 2025 SPRING PROGRAM

We are excited to wrap up the 11th successful edition of Mastercard Lighthouse’s impact tech partnership program MASSIV, with stunning results from 5 participating companies! Here is what came out of the commitments in the program.

Deedster empowers financial institutions through transaction-based emissions insights to track and reduce carbon footprints.

Deedster’s goal in the program was to leverage categorization knowledge on B2B transactions, find partners to validate and further expand their solution, and additionally secure funding for a 2.0 PoC version.

Deedster managed to secure 12 commitments and had numerous introductions to Program Experts and Partners and prospective VCs. They explored collaboration opportunities with Mastercard’s SME teams as well as program partner banks and received a workshop from Synch going through important aspects of positioning.

Their team was also able to refine and improve their impact measurement with the help of UNDP, by including the ESG & Financed Emissions Platform in their calculations and defining output and outcome in their impact value chain.

For their partnership potential, high accountability and great progress in the program, Deedster received an Overall Winner Award of the MASSIV Program at Latitude59 and will receive a sponsored invitation to pitch at the selection event of Start Path – the global startup engagement program of Mastercard

Contribe turns everyday purchases into real-world impact by rewarding shoppers with Change – a new kind of loyalty system that supports social and environmental causes at no extra cost.

Contribe was looking for strategic partnerships to help them integrate their offer into existing cashback solutions and to leverage open banking integration opportunities to track sustainable purchases across payment methods. They were also looking to build investor relations to fuel their international expansion.

In the Program, Contribe was able to receive valuable fundraising feedback, connected with Mastercard experts from the Digital Donations and Open Banking teams, and initiated dialogues with the Nordic banks. They also received advice and guidance from 5 experts,

and under the guidance of UNDP managed to articulate their impact thesis and defined their impact value chain.

Armed with this knowledge their team committed to transform over 10 million e-commerce transactions annually into positive impact moments – turning traditional cashback into purpose-driven rewards for the next generation of 100+ million conscious consumers across Europe. 

Empower.eco enables communities to turn plastic waste into verified, traceable plastic credits creating income opportunities, reducing pollution, and enabling corporate accountability.

Empower sought out to validate the demand for reward-to-impact and employee benefits programs, secure a commitment to Plastic Credit purchases from one of the program partners and to develop a scalable strategy for financial inclusion in Plastic Collection funding.

Their team managed to gain fundraising insights and refine their investor pitch, created a comprehensive product strategy and clear value proposition. They also soft launched the plastic credit marketplace, and gathered 5 strategic partnerships for G2M in LatAm, India, Nigeria and Asia.  Empower received their largest donation to date during the program and signed a contract with IOM (UN Migration) for a project. In the MASSIV program, Empower was awarded the Impact Potential Award by the Program Partner UNDP for its direct impact on the planet and society, addressing systemic challenges, and driving inclusive growth. The company was also nominated as one of the three finalists of the program and pitched on stage at the Grand Finale event

Esgrid is a Tallinn-based B2B SaaS startup that helps companies and financial institutions to manage their value chain sustainability via automating the whole process end-to-end, and cutting costs by 10x compared to manual alternatives.

They started their MASSIV Journey with the aim of defining an efficient G2M strategy in the Nordics and finding first prospective customers and partners in the area, hence increasing sales and connections´ network.

 

During the program, Esgrid had 15+ different meetings with different potential partners and experts, identified several co-op platforms and refined their offering to banks. Among others, they were introduced to the Exponential Roadmap Initiative and several Nordic banks, and held fruitful meetings with Mastercard SME team on sustainability reporting.

Related to the currently hectic times in the regulatory environment for ESG, Esgrid has also started an active pivot into broader supply chain management tooling with a vision of one platform to onboard, evaluate, and engage suppliers. In April, Esgrid successfully closed their pre-seed extension round.

The program provided Esgrid with many very good leads in the Nordics through the Advisory Board and program experts. The startup received highly valuable advice on impact management and measurement as well and GTM / positioning and partnerships.

Trust Stamp Denmark provides privacy-first identity solutions that tokenize biometrics to enhance security, prevent fraud, and promote digital inclusion for underserved communities.

The goal they arrived with in their MASSIV journey was to increase their market penetration and thus financial inclusion specifically in the African region. They sought after advice on and/or access to key partners in the area, like governments, NGOs or UN organizations, and access to large corporate partners and financial institutions operating in the region.

In the program they refined their impact statement, managed to secure multiple Introductions with prospective partners to help their goal of increasing financial inclusion in Africa. Trust Stamp also entered into a partnership with FINITIV program participant Partisia with the aim to make digital IDs safer and more private by securely linking them to unique biometrics, and were selected as one of the three Finalists of the MASSIV program and pitched at program’s Grand Finale at Latitude59
