WHAT COMPANIES ACHIEVED IN THE MASSIV 2024 FALL PROGRAM

We are excited to wrap up the 10th successful edition of Mastercard Lighthouse’s impact tech partnership program MASSIV, with impressive results from 5 participating companies! Here is what came out of the commitments in the program.

AFRIPAY revolutionizes cross-border educational payments, offering seamless financial solutions that empower African students to access quality education globally. By connecting students, educational institutions, and financial partners, AFRIPAY fosters inclusive education and economic growth.

One of AFRIPAY’s key objectives during the program was to establish strategic partnerships. This goal is actively progressing, with a critical partnership initiated with a leading Fintech platform in Kenya and ongoing discussions with potential partners facilitated by program introductions. In the MASSIV program, AfriPay also explored partnership opportunities for AfriPay to offer card payment solutions in collaboration with international payment providers.

Another focus area was enhancing their impact framework. With support from UNDP, AFRIPAY developed a comprehensive measurement strategy to align with SDGs, specifically ensuring inclusive access to education (SDG 4, particularly 4.3), promoting gender equality (SDG 5), and advancing inclusive economic growth (SDG 8).

The program also provided actionable insights for market expansion. Expert workshop delivered a clear roadmap for improving cross-border payment infrastructure, scaling user adoption, and entering new regions.

Finally, AFRIPAY gained significant brand visibility and recognition through the program, solidifying its role as a key player in driving equitable global education access.

PryvX is a Swedish data collaboration platform empowering telecoms and banks to combat fraud and cybercrime while upholding data privacy. By fostering partnerships and driving innovation, PryvX is shaping a safer, more secure digital ecosystem.

During the MASSIV program, PryvX aimed to achieve three key goals. First, they sought warm introductions to potential enterprise customers at executive and mid-management levels to amplify the platform’s value. Second, they pursued connections with capital allocators aligned with the return-on-investment profile of a B2B platform. Finally, they worked toward engaging policy makers and media to influence future policies and enable greater data-level collaboration.

PryvX also explored strategic partnerships, targeting communication service providers, global and local banks, payment providers, and regtech and telecom technology companies.

The program delivered outstanding outcomes for PryvX. They signed an agreement with Indonesia’s largest telecom provider Telkomsel, initiated crucial partnership discussions with program collaborators, and benefited from expert guidance. Culminating their success, PryvX was crowned the winner of the MASSIV program at Slush’s Grand Finale event, securing its position as a leader in data privacy and collaboration. PryvX also gained an opportunity to pitch for Start Path, Mastercard’s global startup engagement program.

RiverRecycle, a Finnish innovator, tackles the plastic waste crisis through a comprehensive ecosystem that integrates river and land-based waste collection, recycling, and product creation. By transforming plastic waste into valuable products like plastic boards, RiverRecycle is paving the way for a sustainable future.

For the program, RiverRecycle set several ambitious goals that were adjusted during the program journey.

The program proved highly fruitful for RiverRecycle, yielding 13 key introductions, including UNDP and the Red Cross Green Team. These connections unlocked opportunities to benefit 90,000 refugees and identified a 60% potential increase in carbon credit income.

Guided by the UNDP’s team, RiverRecycle calculated to employ 200 people by mid-term 2025, help 2.000 people have better housing conditions and remove 8.000.000 kg waste from the oceans. According to UNDP, RiverRecycle’s solution positively affects livelihoods and creates employment for people – and can create a very meaningful impact on a large scale.”

RiverRecycle’s innovative approach and impact were recognized with the prestigious Impact Award, and they secured a finalist position at Slush, solidifying their reputation as a leader in innovative plastic collection and upcycling.

Omocom specializes in providing insurance solutions tailored for the circular economy, supporting platforms that facilitate peer-to-peer rentals, and the purchase and transportation of second-hand and refurbished goods. Their mission is to empower sustainable consumption through innovative risk management.

For the MASSIV program, Omocom outlined three primary goals: developing a product that integrates seamlessly with bank or credit card offerings, and reigniting discussions with traditional industry stakeholders.

The program enabled Omocom to initiate dialogues with several partner banks and gain valuable expert advice on product alignment and market positioning. These efforts are paving the way for future collaborations and innovations in sustainable financial solutions.

Zero Labs, an Estonian climate tech startup, is revolutionizing sustainability with its Digital Renewable Energy-as-a-Service platform. By accelerating clean energy adoption, Zero Labs empowers companies to achieve their sustainability goals while driving global climate action.

During the program, Zero Labs pursued three key objectives: refining value propositions for financial institutions, accelerating enterprise sales, and advancing their fundraising efforts. These goals translated into remarkable achievements, including securing commitments from 6 advisors and 5 experts, implementing internal AI tools, and gaining actionable insights from the advisory network.

On the fundraising front, Zero Labs showcased exceptional investor traction. They received 8 investor introductions through Mastercard’s network, attracted outreach from 3 additional investors following Mastercard’s publicity, and initiated 10 discussions beyond Mastercard’s ecosystem. The high traction from the Mastercard Lighthouse Investor Circle earned them the Investor Award presented to Zero Labs at Startup Showcase.

To date, Zero Labs has impacted over 2,200 organizations, primarily SMEs, along with two major enterprises. In the MASSIV program, they also worked in defining the impact of their work beyond 2025 with the help of the program partner UNDP.
