Determined to unite the unbanked with the banked population, SPENN allows people in developing countries to deposit, spend and save money cost-free via their user-friendly mobile banking app. During their journey in the Lighthouse MASSIV program, the SPENN team were given the opportunity to pitch to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Following their meeting with the Gates Foundation, SPENN launched “SPENN: Health” – a digital vaccine credential app, allowing users to share test results and vaccine credentials within the original SPENN app. The team has also proven that partnerships lie at the core of this program. The company has partnered with Rwanda Biomedical Center and is also partnering with fellow program participant DDFinance, to share resources and harness synergies in their services. In addition, the company launched a pilot with Solar Village in Zambia – an organization providing remote lighting services in rural areas – to help Solar Village users with loan repayment. SPENN also signed an MOU with the Zambia Marketers Association to help users pay into the government pension fund. Finally, SPENN signed a sponsorship agreement with ESPOIR Basketball Club in Rwanda to support the club and for basketball fans to purchase tickets and interact with the club. Overall, during the program the SPENN team has managed to onboard 80,000 new users and Lighthouse MASSIV is looking forward to seeing their continued progress in reaching our shared vision. Farmforce enables transparency and digital management in agriculture value chains with their cloud-hosted web and mobile platform. During the program, Farmforce was introduced to 20+ organizations, initiated 7 partnership dialogues and landed 6 new introductions to concrete deals. Farmforce believes their greatest achievement during the program stems from the development of their partnership strategy, which has led them to recruit 2 new senior executives dedicated to securing partnerships and sign 3 partnership agreements. They also prepared and set clear plans for their future effort to raise capital and were able to engage with multiple Nordic and international investors during Lighthouse Investor Demo Day. After discussions with advisors, the team has also decided to fully commit to a transformational rebranding effort which will be completed in September, so stay tuned. All-in-all, Farmforce added more than 60,000 new farmers to their platform since the start of the program, bringing the total number up to 610.000. With their recent exponential progress, we believe they are well on their way of reaching their goal of getting 20 million farmers to their platform by 2025 DDFinance builds and scales digital, low-cost national insurance marketplaces and distribution systems in developing countries, to give low-income families access to health and life insurance. In April, the company passed 10,000 paying customers, which they accredit to the expansion of their partnership ecosystem including global, Pan-African and East-African partnerships. During the MASSIV program, they signed a tripartite agreement for joint expansion with MASSIV alumni Jamii.one. They believe this has the potential to 10-fold the size of both Jamii.one and DDFinance. The DDFinance team has also initiated partnership talks with fellow program participant SPENN to examine potential cooperation on distribution. They work on developing a Trust Score and made great progress in sponsoring health insurance for vulnerable households. With help from MASSIV advisors and experts, DDFinance has also improved their branding, initiated several investor dialogues, explored pull strategies, pitched to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, initiated dialogues with UNDP / Insurance and Risk Financing Facility, adjusted their target customer focus and improved their marketing communication to truly embody and encompass the impact they are having on individuals and families. We look forward to seeing the many more successes that will follow as DDFinance spearheads collective-based-insurance. Viveo Health is an e-health provider that makes healthcare accessible through their complete virtual clinic for doctors. This gives patients access to quick and affordable healthcare. During the program, Viveo has seen incredible growth, with a 9100% increase in their customer base. Within the Baltics and India, Viveo has also signed 5 new deals, bringing a predicted 150,000 new customers to their platform by mid 2021. With the launch of their CSR webpage, the team is looking to hire an ESG-focused position to further develop their sustainability commitments. In addition, the team has created the Viveo Cares Foundation to enable donations for free digital visits. They held their first donation campaign in May and partnered with local NGOs in India to dedicate the campaign to 10,000 free visits for COVID-related care. Viveo has also recruited Viveo Cares Ambassadors including Toomas Hendrik Ilves, former Estonian President, and hope to leverage his network and experience in the public sector for positive social impact. The team was also introduced to the Red Cross and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through MASSIV and we look forward to follow their future endeavors. Addressya is a digital addressing platform that makes it possible for anyone to register a precise and easy to use address and share it with individuals, businesses and authorities with full control over their own personal data. This gives individuals access to products and services such as banking, insurance, and emergency services. To businesses they offer addressing-as-a-service, which gives them access to high quality address data for efficient service delivery. Addressya focused on improving their positioning and go-to-market strategy during the program; to close the loop between B2B and their customers. With the guidance of program partner Synch, Addressya has expanded their focus from Uganda and Rwanda to prepare their service for global use from a compliance, taxes and contract perspective. With the help from advisors and experts, the team has sharpened their message, improved user onboarding and UX, and found partners for implementation. Addressya is taking their services to new heights, and we look forward to following them on their journey to global impact. The MASSIV Journey Spring 2021
